It is easily accessible by car and train and Innsbruck and Zurich airports are not far away. The alpine playground comprises of 300 km of ski slopes, 200 km of off-piste trails and a massive state of the art network of 87 chair lifts and gondolas to shuttle skiers across the entire Arlberg region, including Zuers am Arlberg and Lech am Arlberg. Something for Everyone: It is obvious that shredding the slopes is the main attraction in St. Anton, yet there is so very much more. Alpine skiing was literally invented in St. Anton so it’s a great place to learn “the Arlberg technique”. It’s also a great place for off-piste skiing, snow shoeing, winter hiking, husky sleigh riding, tobogganing, cross-country skiing, swimming, spa indulgence, tennis and indoor climbing. A day trip to scenic Innsbruck is also possible. St. Anton really does offer something for everyone seeking an active holiday.
The Time is Right: St. Anton is renowned for its excellent snow conditions, making it a winter wonderland for skiers from early December to early April. The peak season between Christmas and New Year brings a festive atmosphere and lively après-ski activities, however it can be rather crowded both on and off the slopes. For a quieter and more relaxed skiing experience, January and March tend to be less crowded. April can also offer some awesome, if unpredictable, spring skiing under sunny skies.

Living in Style: St. Anton has elegant hotels, catered chalets, and every imaginable type of B&B accommodation. Prices range from reasonable to eye-watering.
“Dorf” is the lively center of St. Anton and near to all three main lift stations – Galzig, Gampen and Rendl – as well as the pedestrian area where restaurants and charming shops are located. Think pricey.
Nasserein is the east end of St. Anton and hosts the Nasserein gondola. It is quieter and prices are more moderate. There is a walking trail on the north side of the town, which takes you to the center of St. Anton in less than 20 minutes. It’s a nice evening stroll to stretch your tired legs.
There are also some residential areas further to the west of St. Anton, including Gastig and Oberdorf. If you stay in the west end, however, keep in mind that it will also require a bit of walking to get to the ski lifts. It’s only 1.5 km, however 1.5 km can feel like 150 km on the uphill side at the end of a long ski day.
Insider tip: If you choose accommodation in either Nasserein or Gastig and Oberdorf, renting a ski locker at one of the lift stations or sports shops next door is a pragmatic alternative to trekking across town in your ski boots.
Cuisine & Kebab: At the risk of sounding repetitive, St. Anton offers something for everyone in terms of food too! TripAdvisor and RestaurantGuru provide an excellent overview of where to eat in St. Anton. The one restaurant it would be remiss to not mention is The Museum Restaurant, which is literally in a ski museum. The Museum is not cheap, however the experience and thrill of being in “the cradle of alpine skiing” is worth the splurge.
Insider tip: Pizza Kebab House at the base of the Nasserein gondola offers surprisingly good kebabs and durum! It’s a good place to economically recover after an evening at The Museum.
